Manifestación Denim 2024

Manifestación Denim, held during Denim Day, includes denim art activities, live music, small bites and drinks, an art exhibit, and the denim quilt display made by advocates, survivors and community members.

• This event is free and open to the public.

Why Manifestación Denim?

Since 2023, UNIDOS has joined the Denim Day campaign, which is commemorated on the last Wednesday of April as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The campaign began after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim.
